Lydia's Chocolate Chip Cookies


  • 1/2 cup butter - soft
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 cups of your favorite chocolate chips or more. 



  1. Cream the butter and sugars till light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the egg, sour cream and vanilla.
  3. Combine the dry ingredients in a separate bowl and slowly add to the creamed mixture. Add the chocolate chips by hand. 
  4. Chill the dough. 
  5. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Roll the dough into balls and place on a cookie sheet with parchment paper. 6 cookies per pan work best.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes or till the cookies start to golden. Yields 18 cookies.
