Classic Donuts
- 1 cup warm milk, whole
- 2 1/2 tsp yeast
- 4 cups flour
- 3 Tbsp sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1 Tbsp brown sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled
- In your mixing bowl, bloom the yeast in the warm milk and sugars.
- In another bowl, mix all dry ingredients and set aside.
- once the yeast blooms, add the eggs, butter, and half the dry mixture. Mix till mostly mixed and add the rest of the flour mixture.
- Knead till smooth. Form a ball and let it rise in a greased bowl for one hour or till doubled in size.
- Roll on a lightly floured surface to 1/2 inch and cut our donuts. Place on a lightly floured cookie sheet and cover with a damp towel and rise for another hour.
- Heat up your oil to 350 degrees and fry donuts for 2-3 minutes per side or till golden brown. Drain on a wire wrack. Once cool, glaze.
CHOCOLATE GLAZE
- 1 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- 3 Tbsp cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3-4 Tbsp water or milk
*Makes 8 donuts
